My Prayer Journal | Why I'm Sharing | Entry 1
Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, I have a bit more time to my self and to reflect.
Something that I used to do every night before falling asleep was write in my prayer journal. It was a way I could keep a record of my prayers to see how God would work in my life as well as share my thoughts and feelings day by day. I learned from my counselors at Big Lake and Camp MiVoden different ways of maintaining a spiritual life and journaling always appealed to me. I was fairly consistent for years, writing at least 5/7 days a week. I stopped journaling when I started to worry that someone (more specifically a roommate haha) would read my journal that I kept under my pillow. I started to journal on my notepad on my phone, but because I didn't have a physical reminder I often forgot.
I've decided to start blogging my prayers because I need accountability. Sharing my thoughts and feelings publicly and sending prayers to God can also help inspire others to start their own prayer journals. I know that a lot of my friends have considered starting a journal but didn't know how to get started. I've found that journaling (whether it's notes to God, or simply just writing out my day or how I'm feeling) really helps clear my headspace and fall asleep. Journaling also helps me process daily stresses and track how my life changes in ways I never expected.
With the added stress from the Coronavirus, I felt that it was the perfect time to start the spiritual journey of writing in a prayer journal. I plan to journal with the verse of the day from Bible Gateway as well as answer in a few sentences the daily question from my spiritual journal.
Feel free to comment, share or even start your own, I'd love to see what you're thinking and feeling!
